WHAT IS A LIVING TOGETHER GATHERING?
Living Together Gatherings [LTGs] represent opportunities for community members who support the transition to a sustainable, re-localized, resilient and very positive future to come together and share. LTGs are grassroots, D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) expo’s of us to us, a time for displays, presentations, performances, workshops and enjoyment.
At LTGs, we make connections, form collaborative relationships, share our knowledge, skills, projects and interests, discover and get up to speed with what each of us is doing that is contributing towards a positive regional and planetary future, and enjoy food, music, dance and the precious company of other ‘culture creatives’.
Usually LTGs include the option for Camping Together, but this April’s venue precludes that aspect.
The WEEKEND PROGRAM is organized in TWO ways:
Prior to the Gathering, the community is invited to register online (CLICK HERE) so as to be included in the pre-event advertising and scheduling, and also to secure an appropriate space.
During the Saturday and Sunday Morning Plenums, the Presenters / Workshop Facilitators / etc will speak very briefly about what they’re offering / focalising or such. Then (in the methodology of ‘Open Space’) anyone who is present may add something new to the pre-advertised Program and also may briefly address the Plenum. The additions will be slotted in and added to the Program Display.
Time-Keeping! For various reasons, adherence to the pre-organized Program has not been a forte of LTGs to date. While wanting to preserve the organic, DIY, self-organizing quality of the Gathering, many of us involved with the LTG process recognize that we simply MUST (for many, many reasons) ADHERE to the Program Timetable — the community has our commitment to the same.
And a bit more on the OPEN SPACE approach : as LTGs are part of the grassroots transformation of the world ‘from the bottom up’, by definition, they must support the empowerment of each being as a self-organizing, self-directing being. ‘Open Space’ involves the so-called ‘Law of Two Feet’ - whereby participants move about the various venues and happenings of the Gathering, freely following the flow of their own inspiration.
