INTRODUCTION

LTN endorses The Earth Charter and is part of the decentralized, global web of the Earth Charter Initiative.

LTN also endorses the CHARTER of the GLOBAL GREENS, which is sub-titled ‘defining what it means to be Green in the new millennium’.

The value of the Charter of the Living Together Network is that it provides a big picture of grassroots positive change - holistically, and at a glance.

LTN’s Charter is organized in two sections.  These are LTN’s Holistic Mission Statement and Performance Indicators: Significant Steps by which to mark humanity’s progress towards achieving a sustainable, just and peaceful world.

While LTN’s contributions towards achieving the indicated goals are evidenced elsewhere on this site, it is well to reaffirm that LTN supports and collaborates with like groups, specifically Relocalization advocates like the Transition Initiatives movement.

HOLISTIC MISSION STATEMENT

Basic Intent

We are coming together to co-create a beautiful future - for ourselves and for future generations.

Relation to the First Peoples

Firstly, we give our respect to the custodians and spirit of the land and to all indigenous peoples — knowing our collective movement forward requires greater understanding and assimilation of the ancient ways.

We recognize the critical necessity of heeding the wisdom and wishes of Traditional Knowledge Keepers in order to safeguard the wellbeing of the land and the people.

Nature of the Human Civilization we are espousing

We seek to promote and contribute towards the development of a sustainable, just and peaceful society –

  • That ‘nests’ within the life-sustaining order and beauty of the universal design
  • That honors the Earth and the delicate web of life
  • That supports the health, holistic development and dignity of human life
  • That furthers optimal well-being in all spheres of existence such that
  • approaches to meeting basic human needs are based on the principles of natural laws, ecological sustainability, fair trading and equitable distribution of our common wealth
  • the sacred cosmic life force is honored and vitality cultivated
  • the liberty of every being is upheld - meaning that the individual and the community are empowered as effective co-creators of their lives and the legacy of their lives to future generations — policy-making is based upon a truly democratic, interactive and accountable grassroots system of bioregional self governance
  • humans relate one to the other, with compassion
  • freedom of speech and artistic expression is upheld — in the interests of societal betterment
  • the intellectual environment, liberated from historical misconceptions, promotes true wisdom and insight; the higher potential of human collaboration in ‘co-intelligence’ is unlocked
  • the spiritual potential of the human microcosm is nurtured

Region by region, local communities come together in the interests of realizing greater self-sufficiency, political empowerment, sustainability of life-style and limitless well-being.

Unity, shared vision and collective resolve empower the grassroots movement.

Region by region, communities respond positively to the times, taking up the challenge to ‘Be the Change We All Want to See’.

Regional Communities are re-instated as the rightful beneficiaries and the rightful stewards of their region’s wealth.

Cultural, economic and political relations link the (essentially autonomous) Regional Communities within Regional Clusters and the wider World Community. These relations are mutually equitable, beneficial and just.

The beauty, glory and Gift of Earth, humanity and the planetary web of life are celebrated and enjoyed by all.
